Chesapeake Gold (CKG) announced a significant advancement in its exploration efforts at the Chanach copper-gold project in the Republic of Mongolia. The ongoing drilling campaign has highlighted the project’s substantial potential, with preliminary results showing high-grade mineralization across multiple drill holes.
Recent drilling has revealed intervals of copper-gold mineralization at depths of up to 200 meters, showcasing grades up to 3.2% copper and 1.5 grams per tonne gold. The company has completed 10 of the planned 15 drill holes, which are defined to further evaluate mineralization in the northern part of the deposit, an area previously highlighted through surface sampling.
“It is evident that we continue to unlock the exploration potential at Chanach,” said Dr. Elena Ivanova, CEO of Chesapeake Gold. “The preliminary results are encouraging and suggest that we are on the right path to defining a significant resource at this historic mining site.”
Chesapeake Gold aims to capitalize on the ongoing demand for copper and gold, driven by the growing global focus on renewable energy and technological advancements. The Chanach project, strategically located in a mining-friendly jurisdiction, is positioned to become an important contributor to the supply chain, particularly as the world transitions towards more sustainable energy sources.
The project encompasses an area of approximately 40 square kilometers and is characterized by extensive mineralization along a three-kilometer trend. According to the company, the region is home to several previously discovered deposits and exhibits geological traits similar to other significant mining operations worldwide.
The current drilling program, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year, will provide critical data to support resource estimation and further exploration efforts. Chesapeake Gold is focused on advancing its work at Chanach as it seeks to expand its resource base while also evaluating potential partnerships for future development. In this regard, Chesapeake Gold recently adopted a fixed stock option plan that could enhance its strategic initiatives.
As exploration proceeds, the company aims to leverage its geological insights to enhance the project’s viability in an increasingly competitive market for copper and gold. With each drill hole, Chesapeake Gold is working towards the goal of establishing Chanach as a prime mining asset, tapping into the underlying value of the property.
The excitement surrounding the ongoing drilling at Chanach underscores Chesapeake Gold’s commitment to exploring and defining valuable resource potential in Mongolia, which remains an attractive destination for mineral exploration. The company looks to update stakeholders as results come in through the remainder of the drilling campaign.
