Acceleware (AXE) reports widening Q2 losses as R&D investments in carbon capture technology ramp up

Acceleware (AXE) reported a net loss of $1.5 million for the second quarter of 2025, a significant increase from the $541,000 loss recorded in the same period last year. The company attributed this decline to higher research and development costs associated with its innovative carbon capture technology and growth initiatives.

For Q2 2025, Acceleware’s revenues rose to $515,000, up from $380,000 a year earlier. The increase was driven primarily by its growth in consulting services as well as additional project advancements in its Acceleware® RF XL technology, which is aimed at decarbonizing the oil sands sector. Acceleware recently announced its plans to further enhance its offerings, as detailed in their report on second quarter financial and operating results.

“Despite a challenging environment, our team has made considerable progress in our technology development and consulting service offerings,” said CEO Geoff Clark. He emphasized the company’s focus on environmental sustainability and the strategic importance of their RF XL technology in addressing future energy needs.

The company’s operating expenses rose to $2 million, up from $1.4 million a year ago, reflecting investments in talent and resources that are essential for its expansion plans. Acceleware is enhancing its workforce to support increased project activities and enhance its technological capabilities. This growth is supported by recent funding efforts, including the extension of private placement financing to foster RF heating innovations.

Acceleware continues to explore partnerships and collaborations to accelerate the development and deployment of its RF XL technology. This technology represents a significant advancement in the oil extraction process, offering potential reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and overall energy consumption, as the industry faces increasing regulatory pressures and climate goals. As noted in a recent article, the advancements in RF XL 2.0 expand Acceleware’s strategic focus.

Looking forward, Acceleware remains optimistic about its growth trajectory. “We are well positioned to capitalize on emerging market opportunities as industries seek to transition to more sustainable practices,” said Clark. The company plans to pursue strategic business development opportunities to further its market reach and technological implementation. This includes ongoing efforts related to recent debt transactions which are seen as a pathway to sustainable growth.

The financial performance and operational progress that Acceleware demonstrated in Q2 2025 are critical as it continues to navigate the energy sector’s evolving landscape. With a steadfast commitment to innovation and sustainability, Acceleware is positioning itself as a pertinent player in the pursuit of cleaner energy solutions.
