Magna Mining (NICU) reported a significant decrease in revenue for the second quarter of 2025, totaling $1.1 million, down from $7.7 million in the same period last year. The company attributed this decline to lower metal prices and reduced sales from its operations in the Bucke and O’Brien properties in Ontario.
Despite the setback in revenue, the firm persisted in its operational objectives, primarily focusing on advancing its fully permitted, past-producing projects. The company emphasized its commitment to producing nickel and copper in response to the climbing demand for electric vehicle batteries and renewable energy technologies.
Magna’s second-quarter sales were driven by the sale of 326 tons of concentrates. The average sales price for nickel was approximately $7,842 per ton, while copper was sold at roughly $7,123 per ton. Last year, during the same quarter, the company’s revenue benefitted from higher metal prices that have since declined, impacting the current earnings.
On the operational front, Magna’s adjusted operating loss for the quarter came in at $1.5 million. This marks an improvement compared to the loss of $3.5 million recorded in Q2 2024. President and CEO, Jason Jessup, noted, “While our revenue dipped compared to last year, we have made substantial strides in minimizing our costs and streamlining operations.”
The company recorded a net loss of $3.5 million or $0.02 per share, reflective of ongoing investment in its exploration activities and preparation for future production. Magna reported that it has been actively exploring its properties, with a focus on identifying high potential drill targets, which is vital for its long-term growth strategy.
Financially, Magna Mining had cash and cash equivalents of $5.8 million as of June 30, 2025, providing enough liquidity to support ongoing operations and exploration initiatives. “Our focus remains on executing our strategy, and we are confident in the value we can unlock from our projects,” said Jessup.
Magna Mining is strategically positioned to benefit from the growing integration of nickel and copper in the global shift toward electric vehicles and renewable energy. The firm’s ongoing exploration and development efforts are aimed at harnessing these trends, positioning itself for potential growth as market demand for these critical metals continues to increase.
The company’s board believes the investments made during this challenging period will yield significant returns in the years to come, as the global economy increasingly shifts towards sustainable energy solutions.
